The Bullmastiff was developed in England from the Bulldog and Mastiff to protect gamekeepers and property from poachers. Today the breed is still a reliable guardian and protector of the family circle. Any shade of brindle, fawn or red, with black muzzle and eye markings are acceptable.
Temperament: This fearless, alert breed makes a loyal family pet and guard dog. The Bullmastiff’s courageous and protective nature is accentuated by his affectionate, loving and easygoing temperament.
Lifestyle: Town or country, provided the property is fully enclosed. They are physically strong, tough dogs and supervision with children is advised.
General care: His short coat can be kept free of dead hair and gleaming with a good rubdown.
Exercise: Needs a fair amount of exercise and handling when young. While obedient and intelligent, they are sensitive and need a positive approach to training. Daily outdoor activity is necessary and the breed enjoys various dog sports.
