Easy achievable goals for you and your pet

Get ready for February, traditionally the month of love, and one way to show your love for your pet is to set goals for the year that will help you be an even better pet parent. The idea behind this is to set easy goals that can be achieved in your daily schedule. Do it for the love of your pet. Here are some goal ideas for you and your pet.

1. First aid training

If you haven’t yet done so, why not take a course on first aid training for pets? It doesn’t have to be an in-depth course, just something that will cover the basics of first aid. Accidents and incidents happen fast, like a dog choking on something, a curious cat who cuts open her paw or an animal having a seizure. A first aid course can help you save an animal’s life.

2. Get more exercise

By now, nobody has to explain to you the benefits of getting more exercise. You understand that being active helps you and your pet to be healthier, and it also helps with mental health – even if you just go for walks. Before you start a hectic exercise plan, speak to your vet first to find out what kind of exercise will be good for your dog.

3. New adventures

A new adventure doesn’t have to be daring, dangerous or crazy. Take your normal activities to a new level. For instance, when your dog loves swimming, take him on a course where he can swim and play in the mud, like Muddy Puppy – find out more at www.muddypuppy.co.za.

4. Improve training

We know that you’ve spent lots of time teaching your cat and dog something new. Once you know what your pet loves doing, zone in on that and teach him more intricate cues and tricks. This will help to stimulate your cat’s or dog’s mind. And don’t forget about the other pets – they too will benefit from regular training sessions.
