The South African Guide-Dogs Association recently raised around R9000 from hole and tee sponsorships, entry fees, raffle and cash donations at their annual golf day. These funds will go a long way towards training another service dog!

The field comprised of 48 golfers, in a Four Ball Better Ball Stableford Competition, every single prize was sponsored! “It is only through the kindness of our sponsors and donors that it was the success that it was!” says GDA’s Di Turner.

“While the breeding and training of Guide Dogs is our core function, we are also committed to providing Service Dogs for someone in a wheelchair, and Social Dogs to act as a companion, friend and stimulant for a mentally disabled person. We are currently training around 50 to 60 dogs a year. The need is greater than ever for the guide and service dogs, training, and aftercare support we provide over the entire life of a dog.”

The next Golf Day is planned for the end of October 2016 – and it will most likely be held on a Sunday.
