How do fish breathe underwater? He gets oxygen into his body by taking water into his mouth and forcing it out again through his gill passages. The dissolved oxygen is absorbed by the gills and then moves into the bloodstream.

No, spotted hyenas don’t laugh because somebody told them funny joke, and neither do they laugh at someone’s expense. Hyenas normally laugh when they hunt or when they feed. Their laughter is a form of communication to other hyenas about their frustration, excitement or fear. It is only the spotted hyenas who laugh and giggle, but that is not the only sound they make. They have a repertoire of 14 different sounds, which include the ‘whoop-whoop’ sound which can sometimes be heard at dusk and dawn.

Technically, the animals of the cat family who roar, cannot purr, like lions, leopards, jaguars and tigers. Cheetahs, pumas, cougars, caracal, serval and most of the small wild cats can purr, but cannot roar. Interestingly, there are a variety of other animals who also purr, including hyenas, bears, badgers, foxes, rabbits and squirrels.
