The past two years have brought about many changes in our lives. Some changes were bound to happen at some point, but were fast-tracked when the hard lockdown occurred all over the world. One of the industries that has seen new trends coming to light, is the pet food industry. In this article, Animaltalk takes a look to see what these trends are.
Humanisation
One trend that has been developing over a few years now is the ‘humanisation’ of pet food. People have been spending more time with their pets at home since the lockdown, and this has strengthened the bond between pets and their owners. And, because people have started to see their pets as part of the family, pet owners are also viewing the food they feed their pets in a different light.
Gone are the days when people fed their pets the cheapest food from the supermarket. Today’s owners look at pet food differently. They are more concerned about their pets’ health and, therefore, want to know what ingredients are in the food. Pet owners want fresh ingredients and high-protein foods for their pets. And people are more open to trying new variants and fresh food. This trend is based on what people want for themselves – healthy food made of the best ingredients, offering the best value and quality possible.
