We have all had moments of absolute awe and amazement when watching talented pets do extraordinary things. Just scrolling down a social media feed will prove that people love their pets and love to share their talents and skills.
Instant fame
Some pets simply become famous for being absolutely adorable, such as the beautiful Pomeranian called Boo, whose teddy bear look became the inspiration for a popular range of plush toys. At the time of Boo’s death in 2019, this irresistible dog had almost 17 million social media followers, and his fame continues to grow.
On the other hand, some pets become famous for being the opposite, as in the case of Grumpy Cat. This precious cat and her journey stole the hearts of millions and had a 12.6 million-strong social media following when she died at the age of seven in 2019. Grumpy Cat suffered from an underbite and feline dwarfism, which made her appear to have a permanent grumpy look. In collaboration with the pet food brand Chewy, Grumpy Cat inspired the product Grumpy Cat Tartar Control Treats, and her legend lives on.
Local stars
Without a doubt, however, our favourite stars are still those pets who are highly trained and leave us awestruck with that undeniable question: “How did they teach the dog to do that?”
Our own Buddy the Boxer with his big smile is hard to forget in the Hilux adverts, and for those of us who can remember, the Dunlop Staffordshire Terrier advert from the ’80s was an absolute showstopper that resulted in widespread accolades and fame as one of the best adverts ever made.
Some pets have an exceptional temperament with an extreme passion to learn and please, and this may be a sign that your pet has what it takes to work as a pet star.
