Q: Do I have to brush my bunny’s teeth to keep them clean?
A: No, you do not. If rabbits are fed good-quality hay daily, with the addition of limited amounts of extruded pellets and some greens and veggies, then their teeth should maintain themselves. Rabbit dental problems occur when they are not fed properly, especially if they are fed inadequate amounts of hay, which wears the teeth down. The teeth can then overgrow, becoming sharp enough to cut the tongue or cause abscesses – but brushing the teeth will not prevent these problems.
