Roll out the red carpet … it’s time to get some paw prints on it! Yes, it is time again for Animaltalk’s prestigious Top Dog Awards, which this year will be held on 28 January. As per usual we will honor outstanding dogs in various categories. One of these categories is agility, sponsored by Bravecto. The winners have been chosen, and over the next few weeks we will get to know them a bit better.
Second place: Medium
Gaby Grohovaz with Lollie
Name of dog and handler: Lollie (Int Ch, Ch, ChAg, ChDJ, ChNC, KUSA National DJ &Ag Wesavi LaLollita CD) with Gaby Grohovaz
Dog’s breed and age: Pyrenean Sheepdog, 10 years
How long have you been taking part in agility? Forever! (since it started in South Africa, about 18 years)
Previous achievements? Last year Animaltalk Runner-Up Medium category, provincial colours (several years running both Agility and Dog jumping), South African Agility Reserve Champion (several times), South African Dog Jumping Champion several times, Bronze medal World Championship Team event 2013; Top Dog Winner, Interprovincial Dog Jumping Winner, Grand Champion Ag, Non Contact and Dog Jumping, International and SA Beauty Champion, mother of four beautiful puppies.
What do you enjoy most about agility? The teamwork between dog and handler, which is at an incredibly high level because of the speed of the sport.
How would you describe your dog’s personality? A workaholic, very serious, does not like to make mistakes, loves order around her, and likes to make sure that she imposes that order. She wants to know that she is my ‘special girl’.
What is her quirkiest habit? She does not stop barking – at anything and everything and if there isn’t a reason to bark she will bark because of that too!
