Q: Why is a bottomless or automatic feeder not a good idea for pets?
A: Letting your pet eat whenever he wants to is not good for a few reasons. Firstly, some pets will overeat and pick up weight. Secondly, you may not notice if your pet is not eating, which is a sign of illness. Also, if you have a few pets using the same feeder, one dog may prevent the others from eating. These types of feeders can also result in the dog food getting wet or old and mould can grow on it. When dogs eat this mouldy food, it can cause severe liver damage and even death.
